Ms Tahira Haider is a registered (general) psychologist.
Tahira completed her Bachelor of Social Science (Majors: Psychology & Sociology) and Postgraduate Diploma (Psychology) at the University of New England. She commenced her Master’s degree (Clinical Psychology) and was awarded a scholarship to complete a Doctorate (Clinical Psychology) by the University of New England. Tahira is a member of the Australian Psychological Society. She is also an APS member of the following interest groups: Rehabilitation Psychology, Occupational Health Psychology, Psychology of Relationships and Positive Psychology.
Tahira has worked with people from diverse backgrounds and variety of age groups. She has worked in multiple settings, including an inpatient private hospital, community mental health and tertiary psychological services. She has experience working with adults and children of varying age to assist with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, emotion dysregulation and behavioural difficulties.
She also has seven years of experience working in the corporate and occupational rehabilitation settings of the NSW worker’s compensation arena. As part of her Doctoral research, she is evaluating and attempting to improve psychologist’s professional practice in treating secondary psychological injuries within the Australian compensation insurance frameworks (i.e., CTP and WorkCover). The findings from one of her doctoral studies has been accepted to be presented at the Work Disability Prevention and Integration Conference in Amsterdam in 2016.
Tahira is also fluent in both Urdu & Hindi.

Tahira adopts a person-centered approach using a range of evidence based therapeutic approaches which include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Interventions used from a Positive Psychology Approach. Tahira places high value in collaborating with her clients in an atmosphere of honesty, trust, warmth and openness in order to explore and understand their problem situations; and develop unused potential and opportunities in a manner which brings them closer to a values driven life. She uses a strengths based approach to instil hope and empower the client; and works hard at developing and maintaining a supportive relationship with her clients based on unconditional positive regard, empathy and a non-judgemental attitude. Tahira considers it a privilege and honour to walk with her clients in their journey as a facilitator of life enhancing outcomes and constructive change.
